PGD Optical Services is the official agent for QHYCCD imagers in South Africa

QHYCCD designs and manufactures world-leading astronomical imagers, ranging from
entry-level to professional, CMOS and CCD, specially crafted for amateur
and professional astronomers worldwide. The company goal is to provide customers
with first-class products and services.
The company not only does imagers for astronomy but also IR imagers for Industry.

QHYCCD is pleased to offer two new scientific imagers with Short Wavelength Infrared (SWIR) capability.

OVERVIEW
The QHY990 and QHY991 are cooled short wavelength infrared imagers using Sony's IMX990 and IMX991 InGaAs sensors with square 5um pixel arrays. The IMX990 is a 0.4-megapixel sensor and the IMX991 has 1.31 megapixels. These sensors have wide band response (0.4um-1.7um) with high sensitivity. Quantum efficiency is approximately 77% at 1200nm. By using Cu-Cu interconnect technology, the sensor has very low FPN noise and a low defect pixel ratio.
Both the QHY990 and QHY991 include a 25mm filter holder, a common filter size in laboratory applications. The SWIR filter is easily installed inside the imager. With this adapter, the imager maintains a standard 17.5mm C-mount back focal distance.
The QHY990 and QHY991 are available in both air cooling and liquid cooling versions. With air cooling, the imager achieves a delta of -35C degrees below ambient temperature. With room temperature liquid cooling, a delta of -45C below ambient is achieved and with chilled liquid, a delta of -60C to -80C below ambient can be achieved. Typically, InGaAs sensors have higher dark current than Silicon-based material. We therefor recommend selecting the liquid cooling version for applications requiring exposures longer than a few seconds (e.g., >5 sec) or more.

Get the QHY5III485C this winter's special and begin imaging the planets.

Winter will bring in another planetary viewing season and we are happy to announce the first of our winter releases. The planetary imager, the QHY5III485C which was released November 2020 will be going on sale at 10% off from June 15, 2021 until October 31, 2021.
The QHY5III485C uses Sony’s new IMX485, back-illuminated, 8.4 megapixel color CMOS sensor with an array of 3864 x 2176 pixels at 2.9um. With USB 3.0 interface, the full frame rate of 60 FPS at 12-bits or 90 FPS at 10-bits. This sensor is essentially the same size and format as the popular IMX174, but with smaller pixels and higher resolution. The QHY5III485C also doubles as a high-resolution 8.3 MP All Sky Imager
All Sky Lens Included. The standard QHY5III485C package includes a 2.5mm fish eye lens yielding a 180 degree field of view for easily converting the QHY5III485C imager into a capable Color All Sky imager.
